Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Assists with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a provider (Physician or Advanced Practice Provider).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with treatments ordered by the provider under the supervision of the provider or Registered Nurse.
  • Perform select clinical duties.
  • Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information in patient charts.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations.
  • Perform basic clerical duties including answering phones, maintaining records, and filing.
  • Perform basic materials management functions including ordering and stocking supplies.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.
  • May document provider encounters, including diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as indicated.
  • Transcribe patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider (American Heart Association)
  • Medical Assistant certification (any issuing authority accepted)

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using required personal protective equipment

Schedule Hours Per Day: 8.00
Schedule Days Per Week: 5.00
