Job Description
Job Summary:
- Assists with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a provider (Physician or Advanced Practice Provider).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with treatments ordered by the provider under the supervision of the provider or Registered Nurse.
- Perform select clinical duties.
- Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information in patient charts.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations.
- Perform basic clerical duties including answering phones, maintaining records, and filing.
- Perform basic materials management functions including ordering and stocking supplies.
- Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.
- May document provider encounters, including diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as indicated.
- Transcribe patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- BLS Provider (American Heart Association)
- Medical Assistant certification (any issuing authority accepted)
Complexity of Work:
- Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using required personal protective equipment
