Job Summary:
- Under the general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the Respiratory Therapist provides life support, resuscitation, patient monitoring, and medical gas therapy.
- The therapist performs invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures for patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and General Practice units.
- The Respiratory Therapist maintains clinical competency while providing coverage across assigned business units.
- The role requires effective communication with patients, physicians, coworkers, and other healthcare team members regarding patient care needs.
- Responsibilities also include accurate documentation of all patient care activities, supervision and guidance of respiratory therapists, new hires/orientees, externs, and students as assigned, and completion of accurate patient billing documentation.
Required Education:
- Associate of Science Degree, from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program.
Preferred Education:
- Bachelors in Respiratory Therapy preferred.
Required Certification & Licensure:
- Registration with the National Board of Respiratory Care.
- Current License – Respiratory Therapist in the State of Michigan.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Respiratory Therapist experience.
