Job Description
Job Summary:
- Under the general supervision of the Coordinator/Manager/Director, the Central Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for cleaning, inspecting, assembling, packaging, disinfecting, and sterilizing surgical instruments and medical equipment.
- The technician supports the Operating Room, Emergency Department, Labor & Delivery, inpatient, outpatient, and satellite departments by ensuring all sterile supplies and procedure-specific case carts are prepared accurately and on time.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Clean, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
- Monitor and document sterilization processes, including Steam, Sterrad, ETO, and High-Level Disinfection.
- Ensure compliance with sterilization standards and infection control guidelines.
- Prepare procedure-specific case carts according to surgeon preference cards.
- Maintain inventory, stock sterile supplies, and manage par levels.
- Coordinate with surgical teams to ensure instruments and supplies are available for scheduled procedures.
Required Education:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
Preferred Education:
- Completion of medical terminology course is preferred.
Required Certification & Licensure:
- Central Service Certification.
- Certified Central Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST/CBSPD or equivalent) required.
Preferred Certification & Licensure:
- BLS preferred.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 5–7 years of Central Sterile Processing experience.
- Ability to follow directions and work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Excellent attendance and reliability.
Additional Information:
- Training will be provided on department-specific processes and workflows.
