Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform initial patient screening following provider-approved protocols.
  • Escort and prepare patients for exams, procedures, and treatments.
  • Obtain vital signs, patient history, and document in EHR.
  • Assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Administer and document medications and immunizations as ordered.
  • Respond to patient requests via phone, MyChart, and in-basket messages.
  • Enter medication, lab, radiology, refill, and referral orders for provider sign-off.
  • Collect and process specimens; perform CLIA-waived testing.
  • Perform EKGs, respiratory testing, and phlebotomy procedures.
  • Provide discharge instructions and patient education.
  • Schedule appointments and outpatient procedures.
  • Obtain insurance pre-authorizations and apply managed care guidelines.
  • Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and equipment.
  • Follow infection control, sterile technique, and safety standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support patient care advocacy and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Perform additional duties within Product of practice as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum).
  • Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years.
  • Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.
  • Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EPIC EMR experience.
  • Basic computer and keyboarding skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Problem-solving ability.
  • Experience performing a wide range of ambulatory clinical skills.
