Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides respiratory care treatments, diagnostic testing, oxygen and ventilation support for patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric.
- Monitors and weans oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation.
- Draws, analyzes, and reports arterial blood gases and EKGs.
- Assists with airway management and delivers intermittent therapy.
- Performs diagnostic procedures and documents clinical information.
- Educates patients and staff on treatment plans and procedures.
- Maintains certifications and participates in staff meetings.
Education:
- Associate’s Degree – Required.
Licensure & Certifications:
- State License as a Respiratory Therapist – Required.
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) – Required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Required.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Required (for NICU-trained therapists).
Required Skills & Experience:
- Credentialed as CRT or RRT.
- NICU experience – Preferred.
- Proficiency with computer systems and data entry.
- Effective communication, strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
