Echocardiogram Technician

Job Description

Summary

• Performs quality diagnostic echocardiology procedures independently with minimal supervision.
• Responds appropriately to cardiologist input.
• Takes responsibility for assigned tasks.
• Promotes team-building initiatives within the service line and departments served.
• Maintains behavior and communication aligned with the organization’s mission, values, and culture.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine echocardiograms to evaluate possible heart defects or diseases.
• Assists physicians with transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE).
• Conducts stress echocardiograms to assess coronary artery disease.
• Notifies physicians daily for exam interpretation.
• Monitors and checks weekly for required supplies.
• Demonstrates competency in patient care according to age-specific and developmental needs.
• Adapts assessment, treatment, and service methods based on patient needs.

Education / Skills

• High School Diploma (required).
• Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technology program (preferred).

Experience

• Minimum 2 years in the cardiology field (preferred).
• Experience with stress testing (preferred).

Licenses / Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required).
• DCS, RCS, or RDMS certification through ARDMS or CCI.
