Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Under general supervision and in accordance with established protocols, the CT Technologist will perform diagnostic computed tomography (CT) imaging procedures using appropriate imaging equipment.
  • This position requires a strong understanding of radiologic techniques, patient care, and emergency response procedures.
  • The technologist will also be responsible for supporting radiologists with preliminary image reviews, maintaining equipment, and contributing to departmental quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic CT imaging procedures following physician orders and department protocols.
  • Verify patient identity, confirm appropriateness of exam, and review relevant medical history.
  • Interview patients to assess for any contraindications (e.g., pregnancy, medications, anxiety).
  • Clearly explain procedures, including potential side effects, benefits, and post-care instructions.
  • Operate and maintain imaging equipment, including Mobile Dart and Client portable X-ray machines.
  • Capture and evaluate diagnostic images, noting exceptions and communicating findings to radiologist.
  • Recognize and appropriately respond to medical emergencies.
  • Provide education and training to new employees, residents, and student technologists.
  • Participate in quality improvement efforts, including image quality analysis and patient flow.
  • May occasionally perform standard radiologic technologist duties as needed.

Certifications Requirements:

  • IEMA Certification (Illinois Emergency Management Agency).
  • ARRT Certification in Radiologic Technology.
  • BLS Certification (American Heart Association only).

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of recent experience in a hospital-based radiology setting.
  • Equipment Knowledge: Experience with Mobile Dart and Client portable X-ray systems.
  • Availability: Must be able to start within 2 weeks of offer acceptance.
