Job Summary:
- Under general supervision and in accordance with established protocols, the CT Technologist will perform diagnostic computed tomography (CT) imaging procedures using appropriate imaging equipment.
- This position requires a strong understanding of radiologic techniques, patient care, and emergency response procedures.
- The technologist will also be responsible for supporting radiologists with preliminary image reviews, maintaining equipment, and contributing to departmental quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic CT imaging procedures following physician orders and department protocols.
- Verify patient identity, confirm appropriateness of exam, and review relevant medical history.
- Interview patients to assess for any contraindications (e.g., pregnancy, medications, anxiety).
- Clearly explain procedures, including potential side effects, benefits, and post-care instructions.
- Operate and maintain imaging equipment, including Mobile Dart and Client portable X-ray machines.
- Capture and evaluate diagnostic images, noting exceptions and communicating findings to radiologist.
- Recognize and appropriately respond to medical emergencies.
- Provide education and training to new employees, residents, and student technologists.
- Participate in quality improvement efforts, including image quality analysis and patient flow.
- May occasionally perform standard radiologic technologist duties as needed.
Certifications Requirements:
- IEMA Certification (Illinois Emergency Management Agency).
- ARRT Certification in Radiologic Technology.
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association only).
Experience:
- At least 2 years of recent experience in a hospital-based radiology setting.
- Equipment Knowledge: Experience with Mobile Dart and Client portable X-ray systems.
- Availability: Must be able to start within 2 weeks of offer acceptance.
