Job Summary:
- Under general supervision and in alignment with established departmental policies and procedures, the CT Technologist performs diagnostic computed tomography (CT) exams using appropriate imaging equipment.
- This role includes verifying patient identity, reviewing and updating medical history, assessing risk factors, and providing clear procedural explanations to ensure a safe and effective imaging experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic CT exams as ordered, using established imaging protocols.
- Verify patient identity and review medical records for appropriateness.
- Interview patients to assess medical history, medications, and contraindications (e.g., pregnancy, implants).
- Explain procedures, including risks, benefits, side effects, and post-procedure instructions.
- Set up equipment, acquire quality images, and review for diagnostic accuracy.
- Document deviations from standard protocols and communicate observations to the radiologist.
- Respond appropriately to medical emergencies.
- Educate and assist residents, student technologists, and new employees.
- Participate in quality improvement efforts including reject-repeat analysis, patient flow optimization, and satisfaction feedback.
- Provide physician-directed post-care instructions.
- Serve on-call/standby as needed.
- May perform standard radiologic procedures as required.
Certifications/ License:
- Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) Certification.
- ARRT Certification in Radiology.
- BLS Certification (through the American Heart Association).
Experience:Â
- Minimum 2 years of recent Radiology experience in a hospital setting.
Technical Proficiency:
- Familiarity with portable X-ray machines, specifically Mobile Dart and Client units.
