Job Description

Job Summary:

  • This position provides assistance to the anesthesia department by preparing medications, stocking, ordering, cleaning and maintaining equipment, and stocking supplies.
  • This position is responsible for monitoring quality control and operation of equipment.
  • The incumbent is responsible for transporting patient to and from the O.R., handling routine tasks related to patient care, and organizing equipment.

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

  • BLS – American Heart Association.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Cleans, checks, restocks, prepares and maintains all anesthesia equipment and supplies foreach surgical case.
  • Ensures anesthesia machines are in surgical suites.
  • Adds specialty equipment and supplies to suite setups.
  • Assists in troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Works closely with Biomed to resolve issues with equipment.
  • Partners with scheduler and unit management team to anticipate special needs of each anesthesiologist.
  • Responds immediately to requests from the anesthesiologists during cases.
  • Assists the anesthesiologists in surgical suites as needed, especially during emergencies, difficult intubations, and traumas.
  • Assists in room turnover and prepares anesthesia equipment for next case.
  • Restocks anesthesia supplies in sterile processing department as needed.
  • Collaborates with other care site staff/departments to support anesthesia supply ordering and inventory.
  • Assists in general cleanup in Perioperative Services.
  • Promotes mission, vision, and values of client Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • May be required to float to other departments (within Product of competency and qualifications) based on business need.
  • May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • One year clinical experience in an accredited hospital is preferred.
  • Understanding of medical terminology is preferred.
