Job Summary:
- This position provides assistance to the anesthesia department by preparing medications, stocking, ordering, cleaning and maintaining equipment, and stocking supplies.
- This position is responsible for monitoring quality control and operation of equipment.
- The incumbent is responsible for transporting patient to and from the O.R., handling routine tasks related to patient care, and organizing equipment.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Cleans, checks, restocks, prepares and maintains all anesthesia equipment and supplies foreach surgical case. Ensures anesthesia machines are in surgical suites. Adds specialty equipment and supplies to suite set-ups. Assists in troubleshooting of equipment. Works closely with Biomed to resolve issues with equipment.
- Partners with scheduler and unit management team to anticipate special needs of each anesthesiologist. Responds immediately to requests from the anesthesiologists during cases.
- Assists the anesthesiologists in surgical suites as needed, especially during emergencies, difficult intubations, and traumas.
- Assists in room turnover and prepares anesthesia equipment for next case. Restocks anesthesia supplies in sterile processing department as needed. Collaborates with other care site staff/departments to support anesthesia supply ordering and inventory.
- Assists in general cleanup in Perioperative Services.
- Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- May be required to float to other departments (within Product of competency and qualifications) based on business need.
- May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- One year clinical experience in an accredited hospital is preferred.
- Understanding of medical terminology is preferred.
