Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under supervision, prepares patient and equipment and performs EEG and evoked potentials examinations.
- Instructs and prepares patients and equipment for tests.
- Performs EEG and Evoked Potential testing on patients of all ages in the EEG Department or at the patient’s bedside.
- Determines and selects recording parameters based on each patient’s diagnosis or complaint.
- Takes recording, analyzes data, and, with assistance, prepares results for physician.
- Studies wave characteristics during test to detect evidence of brain disorders.
- Completes checklists, writes clear narratives and/or enters data into computer files as appropriate.
- Completes transcription and accurately processes physician orders according to policy.
- Performs routine maintenance on equipment.
- Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- May be required to float to other departments (within Product of competency and qualifications) based on business need.
- May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
Required Education:
- High School diploma or GED is required.
Preferred Education:
- Graduate of an accredited EEG or END program with 1 year experience as an EEG technician.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Board of Registered EEG Technologist (ABRET).
- The Certified EEG Technician (CET) registry is required.
- BLS – American Heart Association.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 2 years prior experience as an EEG technician.
- Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required.
- Ability to work nights and/or weekends is required for identified positions.
- Minimum of 1 year experience is required.
