Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Works under the supervision of the Urgent Care Supervisor or Area Manager with oversight by the Solano Diagnostics Imaging Manager.
  • Performs general radiographic studies to established QA criteria.
  • Produces radiographs and organizes images, completes required paperwork and charges.
  • Assists with clerical and other duties as assigned.
  • During times that radiologic studies are not being performed, moves to staffing as a Patient Services Representative for all duties until which time another study presents.
  • Performs general front office duties of moderate Product and complexity including reception registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification and medical records management functions

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs radiographic examinations in accordance to established protocols.
  • Assists and instructs patients prior and during examinations.
  • Responsible for evaluating each study to ensure it meets required quality standards.
  • Responsible for patient safety and well-being during examinations.
  • Responsible for inspecting and cleaning equipment prior to use.
  • Reports to supervisor equipment failures and/or malfunctions.
  • Reports all patient complaints, discrepancies and drug reactions according to QA policies.
  • Responsible for producing images, burning CD and occasional film printing, organizing paperwork and completing requisition data.
  • Seeks out during down time, work in other areas of department throughout the day, such as: front desk duties, rooming patients, or assisting with other duties as needed, etc.
  • Registration and Charge Entry.
  • Gathers, updates and verifies a comprehensive package of registration and insurance/payer information and ensures accurate entry into the EMR.
  • Provides information to patients regarding the selection process of a care provider, assists in determining insurance eligibility, co-payments, share of costs and other financial responsibilities for services rendered.
  • Obtains signatures on required forms.
  • Verifies and documents eligibility for all payers at the time of service.
  • Reviews benefit plan/s with patient to determine specific allowances and/or restrictions based on services requested.
  • Researches and answers inquiries related to claims, eligibility and referrals.
  • Collects co-payments, deposits and fees, reconciling all payments at the end of their shift.
  • Ensures the accuracy of demographic and insurance information in accordance with the policies, procedures and service expectations of each department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Graduate of an JRCERT approved radiology course.

Licensure:

  • California Certified Radiologic technologist (CRT) required, ARRT required. Current AHA or equivalent healthcare provider BLS Certification required.

Experience:

  • Basic clerical and computer experience.
  • New graduate eligible but prefer one year of experience in general radiology.
