Job Summary:
- The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for maintaining a highly professional environment, ensuring a collaborative relationship with patients and physicians.
- The MA will assist with the non-clinical tasks required to ensure smooth patient access and flow including scheduling patients which can include follow up office visits, imaging and lab work, preparation of appropriate chart elements.
- The responsibilities of this position would also include pre-authorization process and acting as a liaison between the providers and patient.
- The Medical Assistant will work collaboratively with staff to ensure all proper records are received and all appropriate testing is completed prior to appointment/surgery date.
- The Medical Assistant will provide updates to the staff and patients on timing and status for all the above tasks that could have an impact on the patient’s health and/or testing and treatment options.
- Ensures even patient flow and continuous communication within Client and referring physician offices.
- May be required to start at a different location throughout the workweek or travel to multiple sites.
Required Education:
- HS Graduate or Equivalent GED.
- Graduate of MA Program.
Preferred Education:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s in healthcare field.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- BLS.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Graduate of Medical Assistant program.
- One year previous medical back-office experience, preferably within an acute healthcare system environment.
- Basic keyboarding skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Minimum one (1) year previous medical back-office experience, preferably within an acute healthcare system environment.
- Working Knowledge of EPIC or other Electronic Medical Record system ‘EMR’.
- Qualified bilingual or multilingual candidates.
