Job Summary:
- Under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN), the surgical; scrub technician performs the scrub role and other Peri-Operative related duties as required and within the Product of surgical technician certification and acceptable standards of Operating Room practice.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Able to perform surgical duties and understand the responsibilities of the role and duties.
- Understand and follow the hospital policies and procedures.
- Able to complete and maintain reports and clinical records.
- Able to review and discuss pertinent data relevant to assigned cases with RN and other team members in order to asses the needs of the patient and the surgical team.
- Able to collect data for assessment including but not limited to checking schedule for time and types of operations, verifying patients identity, discussing patient physical and psychological condition.
- Assist in planning the patients care during the surgical intervention including but not limited to checking the time and location of assigned case, following standard procedures for intra-operative patient care, assembling necessary supplies, instruments and equipment, conducting equipment check and labeling and reporting malfunction equipment, identifying immediate and long-term implications of nursing activities, ensuring patient care reflects patients rights, privacy and dignity.
- Assist in implementation of providing direct care to patient including but not limited to provide emotional support, information, supplies, instruments and equipment.
- Evaluate room furniture and necessary items are collected and arranged, sterile supplies, understand the principles and techniques of disinfection, sterilization and environmental control.
- Understand the proper aseptic techniques used.
- Set-up back table and May stand.
- Identified, labeled and dispensed Medications and solutions.
- Assist with surgical team members with growing and gloving using aseptic technique including but not limited to draping patient for surgical procedures, safety and anticipate the need.
- Understand and able to maintain and care for supplies, instruments and equipment during and after procedure.
Education:
- CERT or Diploma or Associates Degree.
