Job Summary:
- The Physical Therapist II assesses individual patients Physical Therapy needs, and then establishes and implements a treatment program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- This role reviews the medical history, applies screening tests, and meets with patient and family to determine clinical needs, impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities.
- Determines a plan of care to include appropriate interventions, expected intensity, duration of therapy, and recommendations for discharge.
- Provides education to patient, family, and/or caregiver regarding purpose of activity, use of equipment, home exercise and activity.
- Performs regular re-examinations, measures outcomes, and seeks feedback from patient, family, and patients’ interdisciplinary medical team.
- Oversees the clinical work of the Physical Therapist Assistant and Rehabilitation Aide.
- Manages multiple patients at the same time and provides care in multiple clinical settings and locations.
- Provides services and required documentation timely, accurately, and in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
- Participates in outside continuing education and incorporates information into practice.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Assists with educating and orienting new staff, acts as clinical instructor for students and interns, and participates as instructor in an established class or program.
- Participates in educational events within the clinic and community.
- Attends specific clinical education coursework which meet the guidelines of the Physical Therapy Board of California and provides in-services to staff.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the State of California.
- Current BLS.
- Basic Life Support (AHA).
Required Skills & Experience:
- Eighteen (18) months of experience as a Physical Therapist in an acute healthcare system environment.
- Training and experience in completing internal pelvic floor exams and treatment.
- Competent in treating all male and female adult pelvic health conditions.
- Demonstrates competency in Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Quality Reporting Program (IRF QRP).
- May require travel to patient’s home for home evaluation.
- Experience with a range of diagnoses including general medicine, orthopedics, neurology, and cardiopulmonary.
- Fulfills mandatory stroke education requirements per certification agency.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience with Microsoft Office and healthcare database systems.
- Bilingual or multilingual.
