Job Description
Job Summary:
- Under general supervision, the CLS performs routine and specialized laboratory tests across multiple departments including:
- Hematology
- Chemistry
- Urinalysis
- Coagulation
- Blood Bank
- Microbiology
- Responsibilities include specimen collection (venipuncture, finger, or heel stick), quality control documentation, equipment maintenance, test analysis, and result reporting.
- The CLS must adhere to all laboratory procedures, proficiency testing standards, and corrective action protocols to ensure test accuracy and compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform and report clinical lab tests accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain quality control and equipment calibration documentation.
- Identify and resolve issues affecting test performance.
- Comply with regulatory and procedural lab requirements
- Provide patient-centered care during specimen collection.
Education:Â
- Associate’s degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution.
Experience:Â
- Minimum 2 years recent CLS experience in a hospital setting.
Certifications:
- BLS (American Heart Association – must be attached to submission).
- Valid California CLS License (must be attached to submission).
