Clinical Lab Scientist

Job Description

Job Summary:

• Under general supervision, the CLS performs routine and specialized laboratory tests across multiple departments including:
• Hematology
• Chemistry
• Urinalysis
• Coagulation
• Blood Bank
• Microbiology
• Responsibilities include specimen collection (venipuncture, finger, or heel stick), quality control documentation, equipment maintenance, test analysis, and result reporting.
• The CLS must adhere to all laboratory procedures, proficiency testing standards, and corrective action protocols to ensure test accuracy and compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform and report clinical lab tests accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain quality control and equipment calibration documentation.
• Identify and resolve issues affecting test performance.
• Comply with regulatory and procedural lab requirements
• Provide patient-centered care during specimen collection.

Education: 

• Associate’s degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution.

Experience: 

• Minimum 2 years recent CLS experience in a hospital setting.

Certifications:

• BLS (American Heart Association – must be attached to submission).
• Valid California CLS License (must be attached to submission).
