Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment in accordance with department policies and infection control standards.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Clean, disinfect, and decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment according to established procedures.
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and integrity before assembly.
  • Sort, assemble, wrap, and package instruments according to instrument cards and sterilization requirements.
  • Maintain accurate sterilization and instrument tracking documentation.
  • Ensure instruments, equipment, and supplies remain sterile and properly handled.
  • Maintain an organized and clean decontamination and assembly area.
  • Monitor supply usage and request supplies as needed.
  • Operate sterile processing equipment and adapt to new technologies and procedures.
  • Follow all department policies, safety procedures, and infection control standards.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and protect personal health information.
  • Participate in department meetings, activities, and assigned projects.
  • Support and mentor new employees as needed.

Required Skills :

  • Strong knowledge of sterile processing and infection control practices.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with sterile processing equipment and instrumentation.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and new technologies.

Certifications & Licensure:

  • Clinical – Allied – Travel Required.
  • Certification as a Registered Certified Central Services Technician or must obtain within one year of hire.
  • Ability to work well with children and adults; interest in working with children and adolescents with disabilities.
  • Physically able to work hours required and lift heavy instrument sets, hours include off premise call.
  • Customer service focused Preferred.
  • At least one year of prior experience as a central services technician.
  • Knowledge of the principles of decontamination/sterilization.
  • Must have Certified Central Services Technician Registration to be considered for this role.
