Job Description
Job Summary:
- Under the general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the Respiratory Therapist.
- Provides life-support, resuscitation, monitoring, and various medical gas therapies to patients.
- The role performs invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures for patients in Intensive Care and General Practice Units and maintains clinical expertise for departmental assignments across various business units, as assigned.
- The Respiratory Therapist communicates effectively with patients, co-workers, physicians, and other system employees regarding patient care needs.
- Accurately documents all aspects of patient care; supervises, directs, and delegates tasks to Respiratory Therapists, respiratory therapy orientees, externs, and students as assigned; and completes all necessary and accurate patient billing information.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Respiratory Therapist experience.
- Minimum of 1.5 years of experience in an ICU/Floor setting.
- NICU experience required.
- Pediatric ICU experience preferred.
- Neonatal experience preferred.
- EPIC experience required.
- Competent in ABG procedures.
- Experience with Puritan Bennett 980, Hamilton Transport, and Servo-U preferred.
- Candidates must be comfortable working in the assigned shift and clinical setting.
- Strong communication and documentation skills are required.
Education & Certifications:
- Associate of Science degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required.
- Current Respiratory Therapist license in the State of Michigan.
- BLS certification required.
- CRT candidates will NOT be accepted under any circumstances.
