Surgical Reprocessing Technician

Job Description

Job Summary:

• Under the supervision of the Coordinator, Manager, or Director, performs cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instruments and supplies used across inpatient, outpatient, Operating Room, Emergency Room, Delivery Room, and satellite departments.
• Ensures sterilization processes are properly monitored and documented while maintaining adequate supplies and preparing procedure-specific case carts according to surgeon preference cards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Clean, inspect, assemble, package, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
• Monitor and document sterilization processes, including steam, ETO, STERRAD, and high-level disinfection.
• Ensure sterilization monitoring procedures comply with applicable standards.
• Prepare case carts based on surgeon preference cards and scheduled procedures.
• Ensure required instruments, supplies, equipment, and implants are available for each case.
• Receive, unpack, stock, and rotate supplies while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
• Work closely with surgical specialty teams to anticipate and fulfill instrumentation and supply needs.
• Maintain accurate documentation and support efficient department operations.

Requirements:

• 5–7 years of Sterile Processing experience preferred.
• BLS Certification required.
• Current Sterile Processing certification required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good computer skills.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.
• Reliable attendance and ability to follow directions.
• Must be willing to complete additional training as required.
