Job Summary:
- The Dental Assistant 2 provides patient-centered dental assistant services in accordance with Provider Practice Guidelines for Dental Public Health and the Tennessee Dental Practice Act.
- Applicants should be customer focused, self-motivated, and team oriented.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assembles dental supplies and instruments and ensures pertinent dental exam records are available prior to patient seating.
- Uses 4-handed technique while assisting dentist and disinfects operatory and sterilizes instruments after every dental patient treatment.
- Manages and maintains equipment and supplies including autoclave, ultrasonic cleaner, and dental unit water lines.
- Monitors expiration dates and prepares dental supply orders per procurement guidelines.
- Ensures accomplishment of daily productivity goals in alignment with the Model Dental Clinic guidelines.
- Manages priorities and individual efficiency to assist in meeting County Performance Plan goals for encounters and Relative Value Units.
- Collaborates with local management to address clinic flow and staffing concerns.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 4-handed dental assisting technique.
- Ability to disinfect operatories and sterilize instruments
- Ability to manage and maintain dental equipment and supplies
- Knowledge of autoclave, ultrasonic cleaner, and dental unit water lines
- Ability to monitor expiration dates and prepare dental supply orders
- Ability to manage priorities and individual efficiency
- Ability to collaborate with local management regarding clinic flow and staffing concerns
- Candidate must be a Tennessee state resident.
- All new contractors must be Tennessee residents.
- Contractors relocating to Tennessee must establish residency prior to their start date.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Experience assisting dentists using 4-handed technique.
- Experience with disinfecting operatories and sterilizing instruments.
- Experience managing dental supplies and equipment.
- Experience with autoclave, ultrasonic cleaner, and dental unit water lines.
- Experience monitoring expiration dates and preparing dental supply orders.
- Ability to meet productivity goals and support clinic flow and staffing needs.
