Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform front-office reception, patient registration, and billing functions.
- Greet, direct, and assist patients and visitors according to office protocols.
- Schedule and reschedule appointments, tests, and referred services.
- Register and maintain accurate patient demographic and billing information.
- Verify patient eligibility and obtain authorizations for services.
- Maintain medical records, charts, correspondence, and test results.
- Communicate schedule changes and patient concerns to physicians and clinical staff.
- Use EMR and other computer applications to complete daily tasks.
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay balances.
- Prepare cash receipts, bank deposits, and balance the cash drawer.
- Post charges and payments to patient accounts.
- Review and correct rejected or denied claims and assist with collections.
- Prepare phone notes and communicate with patients, providers, pharmacists, and other healthcare sources.
- Contact patients regarding appointments and provider communications.
- Track referrals and maintain provider schedules.
- Support quality, safety, HIPAA, and OSHA compliance.
- Assist with identifying and ordering office supplies.
- Provide customer service to patients, visitors, healthcare professionals, and internal/external staff.
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of experience.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong computer/PC skills.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively.
- Understanding of healthcare delivery and medical-office billing processes.
- Ability to accurately record and interpret data.
- Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work a flexible/fluctuating schedule.
Preferences:
- Epic experience preferred.
