MRI Technologist

Job Description

Job Summary:

• The MRI Technologist performs high-quality MRI procedures for both ambulatory and hospital patients according to established protocols and physician orders.
• The technologist ensures patient safety, quality imaging, accurate documentation, and efficient workflow.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform MRI procedures accurately and efficiently according to established protocols.
• Prepare and position patients for examinations and explain procedures to patients and families.
• Verify patient identity, medical history, requisitions, pregnancy status, consent, and required documentation.
• Follow MRI safety, infection control, and department policies.
• Screen patients and staff for MRI safety requirements before entering the MRI environment.
• Maintain equipment, supplies, and work areas according to quality and safety standards.
• Document and maintain imaging records in the appropriate system.
• Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and other healthcare team members.
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations and provide first aid when required.
• Work independently while maintaining quality, accuracy, and patient-centered care.
• Support training and onboarding of new team members when needed.
• Maintain current knowledge and competencies across applicable patient populations.
• Participate in call coverage if required.

Certifications:

• ARRT (MR), BLS – AHA.

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years, including Level I Trauma experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong MRI technical skills and attention to detail.
• Level I Trauma Center experience.
• Excellent patient communication and customer service skills.
• Able to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
• Reliable, team-oriented, and capable of working independently.
• Committed to patient safety, quality care, and efficient workflow.
