Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex CT procedures and produce sectional and three-dimensional images.
  • Review patient clinical history and document information in PACS.
  • Prepare and review contrast questionnaires and scan documentation into EPIC.
  • Identify and/or administer contrast media as prescribed.
  • Review prescriptions for exam appropriateness and communicate with Radiologists and Referring
  • Physicians when clarification is needed.
  • Verify insurance-authorized exam scripts and submit exam modification forms for insurance re-verification.
  • Obtain outside studies and schedule them in EPIC so CDs and reports are available in PACS.
  • Evaluate images using PACS to ensure proper identification and diagnostic value.
  • Gather information from medical records, significant others, and healthcare providers to prepare scanning protocols and ensure patient safety.
  • Determine whether patients are appropriately prepared for procedures.
  • Prepare patients for scanning, including shielding and immobilization.
  • Determine appropriate type and dose of contrast.
  • Explain procedures and address and document patient questions and concerns.
  • Perform venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions during procedures.
  • Work scheduled shifts, including holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Lift a minimum of 25 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs., and stand a minimum of 6 hours per day.

Required Education:

  • Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

  • NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License.
  • ARRT Certified R.T.(R) license required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Preferred Certifications & Licensure:

  • ARRT certified R.T. (CT) license preferred.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of CT experience required.
  • Experience with Client equipment, Epic EMR, and Fuji PACS required.
  • Ability to work in a busy ED and keep workflow moving.
  • Must be willing to work in dual modalities (X-ray & CT).
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and radiological positioning of the human body.
  • Understanding of mechanical attributes of CT software and hardware.
  • Thorough knowledge of PACS.
  • Maintain CEU credits.

Preferred Experience:

  • 5 years of CT experience preferred.
  • Six months of CT experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Epic and any HIS/RIS system used by the hospital.
