Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Job Description

Job Summary:

• Provides immobilization devices as required. Selects and operates Nuclear Medicine equipment as directed.
• Performs radionuclide procedures, prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals, evaluates images using PACS, assists physicians with therapeutic procedures, maintains radioactive materials in accordance with state and federal regulations, performs required clerical duties, and provides patient care while adhering to organizational and regulatory standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Select and operate Nuclear Medicine equipment.
• Evaluate images using the PACS system to ensure diagnostic quality.
• Provide radiation protection for patients and staff.
• Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals.
• Perform organ imaging, function studies, and assist physicians with therapeutic radioisotope procedures.
• Prepare radioactive tracer compounds and calibrate equipment.
• Receive, inspect, store, and dispose of radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with state and NRC guidelines.
• Maintain records of radioactive material receipt, use, storage, and disposal.
• Maintain cleanliness and contamination-free conditions of equipment and work areas.
• Follow NRC, State, and JCAHO guidelines.
• Rotate work assignments including Cardiology and PET/CT.
• Perform clerical duties using Epic, Tele tracking System, Nuclear Medicine Information System, and patient scheduling systems.
• Work scheduled shifts and overtime as needed.
• Greet patients using A.I.D.E.T. standards.
• Modify patient care based on age, culture, language, and other patient-specific needs.
• Adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Required Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology required.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• Must hold a valid NJDEP license.
• ARRT or NMTCB registry is required.
• BLS by American Heart Association is required.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum one (1) year of clinical experience in a busy hospital setting as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
• Experience performing cardiac nuclear stress testing.
• Familiarity with NucTrac, Epic, ISCV Philips Reporting System, and Digital rad camera.
• Ability to start IVs.
• Experience in a Hospital Outpatient Department (HOPD) preferred for diagnostic cardiac testing.
• Nuclear Medicine.
