Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and reusable medical devices while ensuring compliance with established standards, manufacturer instructions for use (IFUs), and infection prevention guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process decontaminated surgical instruments and reusable medical devices according to established priorities, manufacturer IFUs, and industry best practices.
  • Inspect, assemble, package, and prepare instruments for sterilization.
  • Perform steam, Ethylene Oxide (EO), and low-temperature sterilization processes.
  • Perform high-level disinfection of reusable medical equipment.
  • Operate and monitor washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilization equipment.
  • Conduct and document biological and chemical indicator testing.
  • Maintain accurate sterilization and quality assurance records.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of work areas, equipment, and instrument storage areas.
  • Dispose of biohazardous waste and monitor sterilization and environmental systems.
  • Perform additional sterile processing duties as assigned.

Certifications & Licenses:

  • Required – CRCST – Cert-Cert Reg Cent Ser TECH International Association of Healthcare Central
    Service Material Management Or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician issued by The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterile processing procedures.
  • Proficiency in:
  • Steam sterilization.
  • Ethylene Oxide (EO) sterilization.
  • Low-temperature sterilization systems.
  • Washer/disinfector operations.
  • Ultrasonic cleaning systems.
  • Biological and chemical monitoring.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and work independently while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
