Job Summary:
- The Interim Operations Manager provides leadership and operational oversight for the Central Processing Department, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant sterilization and high-level disinfection services across the organization.
- This role is responsible for daily department operations, staff leadership, regulatory compliance, customer service, quality improvement, and support of daily clinical and technical operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day Central Processing operations, ensuring 24/7 service readiness and support for surgical and patient care areas.
- Oversee instrument reprocessing, sterilization workflows, inventory availability, throughput optimization, and customer service for the operating rooms.
- Manage, coach, develop, and evaluate supervisors and staff, including performance management, scheduling, payroll oversight, and employee relations.
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, AAMI, AORN, CDC, OSHA, infection prevention, and hospital standards.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in decontamination, sterilization, and high-level disinfection practices.
- Partner with clinical leaders to support surgical case readiness and resolve operational issues affecting patient care.
- Monitor quality, safety, and regulatory performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Foster strong customer service, collaboration, and communication across departments and clinical teams.
- Promote a safe work environment and ensure compliance with all employee safety and training requirements.
- This interim leadership role is ideal for an experienced sterile processing professional who can maintain operational excellence, support staff development, and ensure uninterrupted service to clinical teams and patients.
Qualifications:
- For interim to permanent hire conversions – Bachelor’s degree required or active matriculation into a bachelor’s program to be completed within 24 months of hire.
- CRCST or CSPDT certification required.
- CHL certification preferred.
- Minimum five years of experience in Sterile Processing, or a combination of Operating Room and Sterile Processing operations.
- Demonstrated 2+yrs leadership experience in healthcare operations.
- Strong knowledge of sterilization, infection prevention, regulatory standards, workflow management, and quality improvement.
- Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and team development skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and healthcare operational systems.
