Job Description
Required Education:
- Graduate from accredited college/university with a degree in Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition.
Preferred Education:
- Master’s degree.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- For post-acute locations, requirements New York State Certification, issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a “Dietitian-Nutritionist”.
- For Acute locations: Registration by the Commissions on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian Primary Source Verification – Required.
Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
- AHA BLS.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum one (1) year of experience.
- Screens and assesses patients accurately and timely based on levels of care.
- Determines patients’ nutritional needs and provides follow-up care.
- Interviews patients/families to obtain food history and preferences.
- Interprets laboratory, physical, and social data for nutrition care.
- Provides nutrition education and documents patient understanding.
- Monitors and educates patients on food/drug interactions.
- Consults with physicians regarding diet modifications.
- Modifies patient menus as needed.
