Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Provides laboratory support by handling specimen accessioning, customer service, prior authorizations, billing support, and tracking laboratory requests.
  • Serves as a resource for test requests, specimen requirements, and result inquiries.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accession and process laboratory specimens.
  • Manage prior authorizations and track status in the LIS.
  • Support billing and payment authorization processes.
  • Assist laboratory customers with test requests, specimen requirements, and result status.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow-up records.
  • Coordinate specimen processing, transportation, and reporting.
  • Support quality, safety, and compliance standards.

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma required.

Preferred Education:

  • Associate degree preferred.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 2–3 years of clinical laboratory experience.
  • Knowledge of specimen collection, handling, and laboratory workflow.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Epic EMR and Atlas LIS experience.
  • Billing and prior authorization experience.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Experience with Sunquest CoPathPlus (LIS).
