Job Description
Job Summary:
- Performs diagnostic imaging procedures under the direction of a radiologist or other healthcare provider.
- Responsible for preparing patients, operating imaging equipment, obtaining diagnostic-quality studies, utilizing radiation safety measures, and supporting patient care activities while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
- Technologists must actively perform and maintain competency in two or more imaging modalities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and position patients for imaging procedures.
- Perform diagnostic imaging studies according to established protocols.
- Operate imaging equipment safely and efficiently.
- Apply radiation protection measures and safety standards.
- Produce high-quality diagnostic images.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff.
- Assist in patient care activities as needed.
- Support departmental customer service and operational excellence initiatives.
- Perform duties across multiple imaging modalities.
- Complete additional departmental duties as assigned.
Required Education:
- Completion of an ARRT-accredited Radiologic Technology program.
Preferred Education:
- Additional 1–2 years of college coursework and/or degree in a healthcare-related field.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- ARRT Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT).
- Current Wisconsin Radiographer License.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).
Advanced Modality Certification:
Must be actively working in two or more of the following modalities and meet advanced certification requirements:
- CT (ARRT-CT).
- Mammography (ARRT-M).
- Bone Densitometry (ARRT-Client).
- Diagnostic X-Ray.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Current clinical experience in at least two or more imaging modalities.
- Diagnostic X-ray experience.
- CT, Mammography, and/or Bone Densitometry experience.
- Patient preparation and positioning.
- Diagnostic imaging procedure performance.
- Imaging equipment operation.
- Radiation protection and radiation safety practices.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to provide effective interaction with patients, visitors, and staff.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- One year of current clinical experience in each modality performed.
