Job Description
Job Summary:
- Performs laboratory procedures using established protocols with minimal technical supervision.
- Responsible for specimen collection and processing, quality control, instrument maintenance, result verification, troubleshooting, corrective actions, and documentation.
- Maintains compliance with laboratory standards while ensuring accurate and timely test results.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory testing according to approved procedures and protocols.
- Collect and process specimens, including blood collection as needed.
- Interpret, verify, and investigate abnormal or inconsistent results.
- Perform and document quality control procedures.
- Initiate corrective actions and document out-of-control situations.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
- Communicate instrument issues and discrepancies to leadership.
- Document maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective actions.
- Participate in student and new employee training.
- Assist in developing training curriculum and competency programs.
- Complete competency assessments and continuing education requirements.
- Investigate errors and support process improvement initiatives.
- Utilize LIS, EMR, and laboratory systems appropriately.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, peers, and leadership.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.
Required Education:
- Associate Degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, including laboratory internship.
- Combined military laboratory training and experience meeting CLIA/CAP requirements.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- MLT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) Certification (or equivalent).
- Certification eligibility meeting employer requirements if not currently certified.

Preferred Skills & Experience:
- 2+ years of clinical laboratory experience.
