Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess, implement, and evaluate respiratory care services according to hospital standards and department policies.
- Deliver respiratory care interventions in critical and non-critical care areas.
- Perform medication administration via nebulizer or metered dose inhaler.
- Provide humidity and aerosol therapy, medical gas administration, incentive spirometry, respiratory mechanics, PEP therapy, pulse oximetry, and chest physiotherapy.
- Perform CPR, mechanical ventilation, intubation, extubation, suctioning, and bronchoscopy assistance.
- Monitor ventilator settings and patient responses to changes.
- Verify physician orders and document clinical information accurately in medical records.
- Respond to code blues, RIT/CRIT calls, and patient transports promptly.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare teams, patients, and families.
- Participate in mentoring new personnel and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support departmental goals through education, in-services, and variance reporting.
- Organize and prioritize patient care activities appropriately.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program.
- Valid Oklahoma Provisional Respiratory Care Practitioner License (RCP) or temporary practice letter issued by the Oklahoma Medical Board.
- CRT or RRT credential through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- BLS certification within 2 months of hire.
- 0–6 months of related experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic PC and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and make clinical judgments.
Preferences:
- Experience in critical care and ventilator management.
- Ability to mentor and support new staff.
- Detail-oriented with strong clinical assessment skills.
