Job Description

Job Summary:

• Under general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, delivers life-support, resuscitation, monitoring, and various medical gases therapy to patients.
• Performs invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures for Intensive Care and General Practice Unit patients.
• Maintains clinical expertise for departmental assignments at various business units throughout, as assigned.
• Communicates effectively with patients, co-workers, physicians, and other system employees as needed regarding patient care needs.
• Adequately documents all aspects of patient care.
• Supervises, directs, and delegates to Respiratory Therapists, respiratory orients, externs, and students, as assigned.
• Completes necessary and accurate patient billing information.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Two years of recent Respiratory Therapist experience.

Education Required:

• Associate of Science Degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program.

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s in Respiratory Therapy.

Certifications & Licenses Required:

• Registration with the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Current Respiratory Therapist license in the State of Michigan.
• BLS Certification (AHA).

Additional Notes:

• Candidates with neonatal intensive care experience are a plus but not required.
• Candidates with experience in a Trauma Level 2 facility are a plus but not required.
• Overtime billed after 48 hours.
