Job Summary:
- Under the general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the Respiratory Therapist provides life-support, resuscitation, monitoring, and medical gas therapies to patients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures for ICU and general practice unit patients.
- Maintains clinical competency across departmental assignments and business units as required.
- Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, and healthcare staff regarding patient care needs.
- Accurately documents all aspects of care and completes required billing documentation.
- Supervises and delegates tasks to respiratory staff, externs, and students as assigned.
Education:
- Associate of Science Degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (Preferred).
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Registered with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Active Respiratory Therapist license in the State of Michigan.
- Current BLS certification.
Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
- NRP certification.
Experience & Skills Required:
- Minimum of 1.5+ years of experience in an ICU/Floor setting.
- ABG competency.
- Experience with ventilators such as Puritan Bennett 980, Hamilton Transport, and Servo-U.
- Client EMR experience preferred.
- Pediatric ICU experience.
- Neonatal experience.
