Respiratory Therapist

Job Description

Job Summary:

• Under the general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the Respiratory Therapist provides life-support, resuscitation, monitoring, and medical gas therapies to patients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures for ICU and general practice unit patients.
• Maintains clinical competency across departmental assignments and business units as required.
• Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, and healthcare staff regarding patient care needs.
• Accurately documents all aspects of care and completes required billing documentation.
• Supervises and delegates tasks to respiratory staff, externs, and students as assigned.

Education:

• Associate of Science Degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Required).
• Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (Preferred).

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• Registered with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Active Respiratory Therapist license in the State of Michigan.
• Current BLS certification.

Preferred Certifications & Licensure:

• NRP certification.

Experience & Skills Required:

• Minimum of 1.5+ years of experience in an ICU/Floor setting.
• ABG competency.
• Experience with ventilators such as Puritan Bennett 980, Hamilton Transport, and Servo-U.
• Client EMR experience preferred.
• Pediatric ICU experience.
• Neonatal experience.
