Job Description

Job Summary:

  • The Cardiac Sonographer performs non-invasive cardiac ultrasound procedures for adult patients, including transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiography.
  • This role supports diagnostic and interventional cardiology services in a Level 1 cardiac facility by delivering accurate, high-quality imaging and collaborating closely with physicians and clinical teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiograms.
  • Obtain accurate diagnostic images, measurements, and reports for physician interpretation.
  • Identify cardiac abnormalities and adjust imaging techniques as clinically required.
  • Assist cardiologists during procedures, including transesophageal studies and complex cardiac cases.
  • Prepare patients, explain procedures, and obtain relevant clinical and cardiac history.
  • Maintain echocardiography lab equipment and report malfunctions as needed.
  • Follow quality standards, clinical protocols, and IAC accreditation requirements.
  • Act as a resource for physicians, staff, and students.
  • Support implementation of new technologies and evolving echocardiography standards.

Certification and Experience:

  • BLS certification (required).
  • RDCS or RCS certification (required).
  • 3–5 years of experience in a Level 1 cardiac facility.
  • Experience with ECMO, Impella, TAVR, and LVAD cases.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and sonographic principles
  • Proficiency with echocardiography equipment, computers, and medical systems
  • Strong communication and patient-care skills.
