Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs ultrasound procedures as requested by physicians with the utmost quality.
- Able to identify advance anatomy and assist doctors with invasive procedures.
- Provides care for patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist.
- Work side by side with Radiologists as well as other Doctors and Surgeons; and is able to anticipate what the Radiologist may need for each procedure.
- Understands that the Operating Room takes precedence when a patient is sedated and on the OR table.
- Must have the ability to take call and respond to work to help our critical patients during off hours.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduation from accredited ultrasound program required.
Certifications and Licensure:
- A.R.D.M.S certification and New Mexico State license in Ultrasound required.
- Registration in abdomen and OB/GYN preferred.
- OB/GYN certification required.
- BLS certification required.
Experience:
- Minimum 1-year ultrasound experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Thorough knowledge of sonographic procedures, equipment, and anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
- As well as knowledge of advance procedures such as biopsy and thoracenteses.
Working Conditions:
- Bloodborne pathogen C.
- Exposure to various body fluids.
- Lifts, transfers and positions patients and equipment in excess of 50 lbs.
