Job Summary:
- The Radiologic Technologist I is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision and performs all essential generic job functions.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Produces diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients, providing immobilization devices, and selecting proper technical factors based on individual patient needs.
- Restricts radiation beam through cone and collimating devices to prevent exposure to unaffected parts of the patient.
- Performs portable x-ray examinations in patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms.
- Identifies patient films correctly with name and x-ray number and marks films to indicate the side of the patient examined.
- Develops exposed x-ray film using available processing methods.
- Completes patient requisitions with technologist initials, date, number, and size of film.
- Maintains an orderly x-ray room as directed by the department.
- Prepares radiopaque contrast media and assists physicians in administering radiopaque mixtures.
- Performs administrative duties including scheduling appointments, patient instruction, film filing, and record maintenance.
- Assists patients with movement, positioning, and transfers as needed.
- Meets physical requirements including lifting, pushing, pulling, and standing.
- Identifies patient population needs and modifies care delivery accordingly, communicating appropriately with patients and caregivers.
- Adheres to client organizational competencies and standards.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
- Completion of clinical and A.R.R.T. requirements.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Must possess New Jersey State License.
- Applicant must be able to meet the requirements for the National Registry and pass such examination.
