Radiologic Technologist

Job Description

Job Summary:

• The Radiologic Technologist, under the supervision of a Radiologist, performs diagnostic imaging procedures on ambulatory and hospitalized patients in accordance with established protocols to support accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform high-quality radiology exams following exam protocols in a timely manner.
• Ensure radiation safety by adhering to dose monitoring standards and taking appropriate action when reference levels are exceeded.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families using AIDET to ensure understanding and comfort.
• Prepare and position patients, adjust equipment settings, and utilize immobilization devices as needed.
• Maintain strict adherence to infection control, radiation safety, and sterile technique policies.
• Screen patients and visitors for safety prior to entering the department.
• Maintain imaging records, patient documentation, and consent forms accurately and timely.
• Ensure equipment cleanliness, functionality, and supply availability; report issues as needed.
• Collaborate with engineers, physicists, and leadership to support optimal equipment performance.

Certifications & License: 

• ARRT, BLS (AHA only).
• Texas Medical Board (TMB).

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Success Factors:

• Must be confident working independently in a busy Level I Trauma Emergency Department.
• Ability to work independently without routine supervision.
• Strong critical thinking and ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
• Excellent patient communication and customer service skills.
• Proficient in emergency response, first aid, and use of emergency equipment.
• Experience caring for patients across all age groups (newborn to geriatric).
• Willingness to serve as a preceptor and support team training initiatives.
• Ability to take call, if required.
