Job Description
Job Summary:
- The Radiologic Technologist, under the supervision of a Radiologist, performs diagnostic imaging procedures on ambulatory and hospitalized patients in accordance with established protocols to support accurate diagnosis and treatment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform high-quality radiology exams following exam protocols in a timely manner.
- Ensure radiation safety by adhering to dose monitoring standards and taking appropriate action when reference levels are exceeded.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families using AIDET to ensure understanding and comfort.
- Prepare and position patients, adjust equipment settings, and utilize immobilization devices as needed.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control, radiation safety, and sterile technique policies.
- Screen patients and visitors for safety prior to entering the department.
- Maintain imaging records, patient documentation, and consent forms accurately and timely.
- Ensure equipment cleanliness, functionality, and supply availability; report issues as needed.
- Collaborate with engineers, physicists, and leadership to support optimal equipment performance.
Certifications & License:
- ARRT, BLS (AHA only).
- Texas Medical Board (TMB).
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & Success Factors:
- Must be confident working independently in a busy Level I Trauma Emergency Department.
- Ability to work independently without routine supervision.
- Strong critical thinking and ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent patient communication and customer service skills.
- Proficient in emergency response, first aid, and use of emergency equipment.
- Experience caring for patients across all age groups (newborn to geriatric).
- Willingness to serve as a preceptor and support team training initiatives.
- Ability to take call, if required.
