Job Description

Job Summary:

  • The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides comprehensive cardiopulmonary care using advanced respiratory therapies and clinical protocols to optimize patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver respiratory care services including oxygen/aerosol therapy, airway clearance, invasive & non-invasive ventilation, bedside spirometry, and inhaled medications.
  • Review physician orders, assess diagnostics, and implement approved protocols based on patient condition.
  • Perform routine and advanced respiratory therapy; prioritize care in rapidly changing clinical settings.
  • Educate patients on respiratory equipment use; assess response and coach for improved technique.
  • Document treatments, supplies, and charges accurately; report outcomes and recommendations.
  • Adhere to infection control, HIPAA, and departmental policies; collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Certifications & License:

  • RRT (NBRC), BLS (AHA only).
  • Texas Medical Board (TMB).

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of respiratory modalities, equipment, and medications.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work under stress.
  • Proficient in electronic documentation and basic computer skills.
