Job Summary:
- The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides comprehensive cardiopulmonary care using advanced respiratory therapies and clinical protocols to optimize patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver respiratory care services including oxygen/aerosol therapy, airway clearance, invasive & non-invasive ventilation, bedside spirometry, and inhaled medications.
- Review physician orders, assess diagnostics, and implement approved protocols based on patient condition.
- Perform routine and advanced respiratory therapy; prioritize care in rapidly changing clinical settings.
- Educate patients on respiratory equipment use; assess response and coach for improved technique.
- Document treatments, supplies, and charges accurately; report outcomes and recommendations.
- Adhere to infection control, HIPAA, and departmental policies; collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Certifications & License:
- RRT (NBRC), BLS (AHA only).
- Texas Medical Board (TMB).
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of respiratory modalities, equipment, and medications.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Ability to work under stress.
- Proficient in electronic documentation and basic computer skills.
