Job Summary:
- Under general supervision, the CT Technologist specializes in performing computerized tomographic (CT) radiological procedures.
- May also perform general diagnostic radiology exams.
- Performs related duties as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for exams.
- Review clinical data on requisitions and obtain additional medical history as needed.
- Prepare procedure rooms and maintain adequate supplies, including linens and equipment.
- Analyze patient anatomy, set up equipment, and perform CT scans.
- Operate imaging equipment manually to obtain accurate diagnostic images.
- Administer IV contrast media, including use of power injectors; monitor patients for adverse reactions and provide immediate care if needed.
- Prepare and maintain sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies as required for procedures.
- Assist radiologists with complex sterile diagnostic procedures, including biopsies.
- Follow radiation safety principles and ALARA standards, including shielding and proper equipment settings.
- PACS: Resolve image exceptions and ensure accurate, high-quality image transmission, including verification of image and series counts.
- RIS: Complete all study indexing, including study start, completion, and documentation within the Radiology Information System.
- Review and confirm clinical protocols with the radiologist prior to performing studies.

- Complete all required documentation in the medical record and radiology systems to support clinical and billing functions.
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Maintain required continuing medical education (CME) hours.
Certifications & Licensure:
- BLS.
- ARRT Registered, including advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or registry-eligible.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions:
- Work may be performed in a hospital setting or ambulatory mobile unit.
- Potential exposure to radiation and high-voltage equipment if safety precautions are not followed.
- Potential exposure to contagious patients.
- May occasionally lift or move equipment and/or patients weighing more than 10 lbs.
