Job Description

Job Summary:

  • The Speech Language Pathologist provides evaluation and treatment to patients within an acute care environment.
  • This role requires strong clinical skills to manage medically complex cases and deliver safe, effective speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive therapy services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat communication, swallowing, and speech disorders.
  • Manage care for medically complex patients in an acute care setting.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Perform dysphagia assessments and interventions.
  • Document all clinical care accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
  • Educate patients and families on treatment goals and techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Licensure:

  • Valid license as a Speech Language Pathologist issued by NYSED (Primary Source Verification required)
  • BLS preferred.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years acute care experience.
  • Experience working with medically complex cases.
  • Dysphagia training.
  • 1 year Speech Clinician experience.

Interview:

  • First interview: 10–15 minute phone screen.
  • Second interview: in-person.
