Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs laboratory procedures using established and approved protocols with independent judgment and minimal supervision.
  • Responsible for quality control, instrument maintenance, and specimen procurement and processing.
  • Addresses customer inquiries, requests, and concerns thoroughly, following through positively and appropriately.
  • Effectively communicates both verbally and in writing.
  • Notifies leadership of potential problems immediately to avoid compromising patient care.
  • Recognizes abnormal or inconsistent results and investigates appropriately and timely.
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize and multitask to complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Maintains clean and organized workstations.
  • Performs corrective action as appropriate and documents results accurately.
  • Provides assistance in training new employees and students.
  • Participates in continuing education annually.
  • Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Two years of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
  • Education:
  • Associate’s degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology, including an internship at an affiliated laboratory from an accredited institution, required within 2 months of hire.
  • Combined military experience and training that aligns with CLIA and CAP requirements.

Licensure & Certifications:

  • MLT or MLS certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent required within 1 year of hire.
  • ASCP certification or equivalent required within 6 months of hire.
