Job Summary:
- Under immediate to general supervision and guidance of a mentor/preceptor, this entry-level MRI Technologist position supports delivery of specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic imaging services for adult and/or pediatric patients.
- The role aids medical staff in diagnosis, treatment, and surveillance of various conditions and diseases.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide safe, high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care using specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic equipment.
- Prepare patients for MRI procedures, correlating clinical history with physician orders.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary care teams to meet clinical and operational goals.
- Perform diagnostic and interventional procedures adhering to departmental protocols and accreditation standards.
- Conduct post-procedure reviews, ensure technical quality, and complete all documentation accurately.
- Transfer images/data to archival systems and prepare studies for physician reporting.
- Perform quality control, cleaning, and maintenance of MRI equipment as per manufacturer and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked work environment.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development to maintain competencies and improve care.
Education Requirements:
- Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited cardiovascular specialty program.
- Graduate of a JRCERT-accredited radiologic technology program.
- Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
Certifications & Licenses:
- Eligibility for MRI Certification required; certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Required Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology principles, medical imaging, terminology, patient positioning, and medical ethics.
- Ability to work well within a team and follow instructions consistently.
- Sensitivity to patients’ physical and psychological needs.
- Accurate record-keeping and attention to detail in handling data and codes.
- Ability to make appropriate recommendations and exercise discretion with confidential information.
- Capability to multitask and stay calm in stressful situations.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with staff, patients, and families.
- High initiative and commitment to efficient task completion.
- Ability to work independently with attention to detail.
- Core knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and imaging technology related to the specialty.
