Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Performs phlebotomy and other specimen collections.
- Provides clerical and receptionist support services by filing records and slides; answering the phone; making appointments; may assist patients to appropriate diagnostic area.
- Receives requisitions for laboratory testing and collects patient specimens such as urine, blood, etc. within required time frame.
- Consistently performs specimen processing using available personnel protective equipment and supplies.
- Displays good hygienic behavior to prevent self-inculcation and cross-contamination to self and other laboratory areas.
- Notifies testing personnel of patient’s samples that are to be tested i.e. blood, urine, stools and cultures specimens.
- Ensures all patient specimens are properly labeled with time and date of collection, patient’s name or LIS label on specimen.
- Completes clerical duties including filing, faxing, answering phones, and inputting orders into the computer.
Facility Requirements:
- Must have BLS certification must be attached to submission packet (Must be through the American Heart Association); RQI certifications will not be accepted.
- Must have 5 years recent experience on Phlebotomy in a hospital lab setting.
